The Great Oak

A neighborhood park already has the land, shade trees, maintenance commitment, and community backing. Now it needs someone imaginative enough to turn the place into a landmark.

Concept sketch for The Great Oak

Why it exists

A county parks department has committed a large, shaded parcel next to a branch library and elementary school.

The community has chosen a broad design direction: an enormous climbable tree that feels as if it grew out of the park.

The county has completed basic site due diligence and established a target budget. No designer or playground builder has been selected.
